Hamnet
Oh my, wow this movie was something else. The acting in this was superb from everyone, the child actors were so brilliant- it was so amazing to watch. What I loved about Jessie Buckley’s acting was that she didn’t act for aesthetics, she portrayed Agnes with such realness which is something I feel is lacking in modern cinema.
The portrayal of grief was so well done- as none grieves the same way. Some distance themselves and drown themselves into work, others lose their temper quicker, or turn to denial.
Also set wise, I was so happy to see the correct Elizabethan architecture. The wattle and daub houses and the mullioned windows, although yes there was a flourish of new architecture that took inspiration from the Italian Renaissance, ordinary people could not afford to keep up with the new trends. And the Globe Theatre showing the social hierarchy at the time, and how the theatre was entertainment for all- regardless of class.
