Something about movies “blah blah blah” Something about TV “blah blah blah” Just play me off now

wow just wow again. I am still so torn between this and Parasite for my favorite bong Joon Ho. I honestly think this has the edge right now but they are both so incredible. The landscape, the camerawork, the acting, the music, the story. This film just does everything right. Plus the fact that this is a true story and the film was made before it was solved makes the open ending even more insane because the killer really was nobody in the film, in fact they hadn’t been caught yet. Learning that Bong Joon Ho had the main detective Park stare at the camera in the last scene in hopes that the real killer would watch the film and have to make eye contact with the lawman is INSANE. Then in 2019 when the real killer was found he had actually seen the film, though said he felt nothing cause he’s a psychopath. This movie is just phenomenal in practically every way must watch for everyone.

I can’t give this a review for the time being but I’ll say what I felt about it. First and foremost I’ve been wanting to start Tarkovskis filmography for a while but this was most definitely not the one to start with. I quite enjoyed the overall feel of the film and the way it was keeping you searching the whole time just like old memories can do. I also have great appreciation for an artist really getting out there and expressing themselves in super unique ways which this was a great example of. I am for sure going to check out more of his work because I liked his style and can see that he has really great vision for film. This film is also one that I will probably grow more fond of as I think about it more because it’s a lot about the overall feelings and concept rather than a story you follow. This did make watching the film kind boring for me to be honest though. Considering this is from what I’ve heard his most experimental film and the fact that it was the first of his I’ve seen I’d say that it was pretty solid and I can’t wait to watch more of his work.

Picked up the criterion of this to finish my Bong Joon Ho collection and had to re-watch it with my gf. I’m genuinely so torn between this and memories of murder for my favorite Bong Joon Ho but imma rewatch MOM today to finalize it. This film is so amazing and nails almost every single aspect. The humor is so subtle but still lands every time, the tension is so powerful, small horror aspects of this film are done so beautifully and elevate the atmosphere even further. One if the most brilliant parts of this film though are the long sequences. For instance the peach housekeeper sequence and the fight/rush cleanup sequence are magnificent. I could genuinely go on and on about this movie but everyone already knows how good it is.
