Sinners
Ryan Coogler was always going to make great films. Ryan Coogler's directing for both Black Panther films were extraordinary, his ability to blend culture, suspense and emotion into his films is what makes him shine and Sinners is a great display of that.
He spends the first fifth/quarter of the film endearing us to these characters. He takes his time establishing the personalities, the setting and the dynamics. A lot of films in this genre tend to mess this part up by making it too full of exposition or too obvious in what it's planning to foreshadow. Coogler does it just right.
Coogler doesn't give the antagonist that layered storyline like he did in Black Panther where Killmonger and Namor seem to be reasonable villains but that makes sense in this film and its themes. The vampires are incarnation of sin and evil so it makes full sense that they're irredeemable.
Race, culture, sin, greed, lust, so much thematically going on in the film and yet Coogler balances it all so well.
Great directing, great soundtrack, great acting and a really really great story.
