Amongst Hamaguchiโs work there are many pieces of cinema that stand out in his filmography, but for me this is his best work to date. Three hours of perfect meditative humanism captured so beautifully and elegantly. Where he slowly begins to unwrap the main characters revealing their inner sorrows and pains and how they are fighting to move on with their lives. Incredible stuff.

Places you firmly in the centre of human suffering and makes you feel helpless as a bystander observing the demise of these characters. Truly masterful suspense and builds its tensions so perfectly you almost forget to breathe. What an absolutely incredible picture.ย That last half hour was unbelievably haunting.

A cinematic marvel, which with further viewing gets better and more impressive as an achievement not just in the horror and thriller genre, but in film as a whole. Cure just gets better with age like the finest wine you could possibly taste.
