Gladiator

I am a big sucker for Roman stuff and Gladiator perfectly hit the spot. Once Joaquin Phoenix showed up on screen I instantly hated his character. He looks like a dick and he is a dick. I love the set design and costumes, the roman symbolism on everyone's clothing, and the action is very good. I had some issues with the camera work, occasionally it was hard to tell what was going on.
