Superman
“I screw up all the time, but that is being human. And that's my greatest strength.”
For me, Superman has always held a special place in my heart. Beacon of hope, lover of everything and everyone, strength in times of hardship, but most of all, a pillar of humanity. Growing up, my father always told us about how Superman was the best hero in any universe of heroes and I would go on and on and on about how amazing he is and how strong and how even though he’s practically invincible, he shows a side of love and compassion that no other hero can ever come close to. He means a lot to me and to my life growing up. James Gunn managed to perfectly capture the essence of what Superman should always portray and the movie happened to be beautifully depicted and carefully thought through. This Superman movie was filled with love and hope for the world all around us. Movies will ALWAYS be political and this was a great reminder that humanity shouldn’t turn against one another because at the end of the day, we are all working to be happy and love. I feel like I’m saying a bunch of nonsense but this movie truly did make me feel like a kid again watching Superman movies and reading my dad’s comics whenever he brought them up from the basement. Thank you, Gunn, for staying true to the message of Superman and allowing us to watch such an amazing movie.
