Ruby Sparks

“You haven’t written a person. You’ve written a girl.” Hoooooo my god so much to unpack here. This was truly brilliant. It is the best visualization I’ve seen of how men use women to boost their egos instead of seeing them as whole, imperfect people. This movie is what (500) Days of Summer wanted to be. Absolutely PERFECT film up until the very last scene, which almost kept this from being a 5-star for me. But the rest of the film is so excellent that it makes up for the ending. It should’ve ended at his book reading and I’m going to delude myself into thinking it did. The scene of Ruby jumping up and down screaming “you’re a genius!” over and over again immediately solidified its place as one of my favorite scenes of all time. Made me sick to my stomach. ANYWAY IF YOU READ THIS FAR, PLEASE WATCH THIS MOVIE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!!!
