New foreign film #8 of 2026 (Goal: 52) Country of origin: Australia Language: English Autistic women do everything better, including torture. Good horror often has me contorting into myself while watching, uncomfortable in my own skin. However, RARELY does a movie make my sensory issues worse to normal things in my own life outside of the movie. I can usually still eat and drink fine while watching. But during The Loved Ones, I had to stop eating my cereal. I couldn’t even look at it. And when the movie was over and it had grown too soggy and congealed into a wet slop ball of rice chex, I threw it away and almost vomited in the process. The hyper-realistic violence, airtight script, super fun use of color, and SADISTIC villain performance easily makes this one of my favorite horror movies. LET AUTISTIC PEOPLE BE EVIL IN MOVIES!!! SPECIFICALLY AUTISTIC GIRLS!!!!!! Community quote: “How many dances is this school gonna have?”
