my first criterion blind buy and i was not disappointed. james caan plays the coolest douchebag i’ve ever seen in a film and he’s also an absolute badass. the score and cinematography ATE and i can really see how this influenced films like Drive and Nightcrawler. the 3rd act really knocked it out of the park for me, solidifying my score to be 5 stars. For those wanting to direct action films: take notes on Michael Mann’s filmography! u might learn a thing or two
