While Lydia Tár is burdened with a haunted conscience, i as a viewer feel similar for not fully seeing her as an antagonist. Will Tár ever atone for the sins of her past, or rather neglect her guilt and remain haunted? Her physical reaction to the brothel (when we’ve know her to be so stoic) left me feeling hopeful, however to reference the opening scene: “You mean she has a conscience?” “maybe.”
