has miyazaki experienced... happiness? on a real one he does know how to make his audience cry

dont hate me pls i just think that all the hype around it made me have insane expectations of the movie i thoroughly enjoyed the different themes of resilience, historical trauma and exploitation alongside the combination of african, irish, and native american culture gave the film a unique dynamic that i yet to watch and find to be successful in doing so. Having that intersection I think gave it sp much value, especially in exposing the brutal legacies of Jim Crow-era racism, the exploitative nature of systemic racism. ALSO the intertwining of the southern gothic genre and the effects post civil war play out FANTASTICALLY. The racial struggle revitalised by vampirism to not only emphasise moving beyond a simple good vs evil narrative to examine the systemic, cultural, and economic dimensions of oppression. chills
