“We're in love. We just want to be together. What's wrong with that?”

— this movie has a special place in my heart and will always be my number one Wes Anderson film. it’s the first one my mother ever showed me and i grew up going to the actual beach Suzy and Sam go to. i hope to fall in love just like them some day.

“I think I have this thing where I need everybody to think I'm the greatest”

— out of the animated Wes Anderson’s this movie is my favorite. it’s quick humor is so unmatched and I can’t help but just smile the whole movie. this movie’s coloring is also one of my favorites Wes has done. this movie got me saying “what the cuss” so much.
“I wonder if the three of us would've been friends in real life. Not as brothers, but as people”

— this movie is honestly so heart warming and cute. I had no idea what it was about going in, not expecting this beautiful brotherly love between three grown men. like that scene with the three Indian brothers that practically reflected them? the flashback scene that was Jack’s story? I LOVE IT ALL!
“I'm not a violent dog, I don't know why I bite”

— I remember the day I went to see this movie in this cute old fashioned theater and that’s when I fully fell in love with Wes Anderson. His claymation is to die for and just like Fantastic Mr Fox, I enjoyed the quick paced humor for animation rather then live-action.
“Perhaps the doubtful old maxim speaks true: All grand beauties withhold their deepest secrets”

— There’s something so drawing about this movie. I love that it was set up like an actual magazine format. I don’t know why I was just so obsessed with it from an artistic point of view as well as someone who can have a short attention span. This was also one of those movies where I feel like Timothee Chalamet felt out of place. He was meant to be in a Wes Anderson film.

“I always wanted to be a Tenenbaum, you know?… It doesn't mean what it used to though, does it?”

— I’ve only watched this once and THIS is what I want from a dysfunctional family. I swear Gerard Way saw this film, said “what if the tenenbaumms had super powers,” went on acid, then wrote Umbrella Academy. Loved the whole film especially Ben Stiller’s character Chas. Never a fan of incest so no comment on that…

“I still don’t understand the play” “Doesn’t matter. Just keep telling the story”

— to this day I still don’t understand this movie, but that is why I liked it so much. I went along with this artistic journey and just fell in love with the vibe of it. it has honestly been a while since I’ve last seen it so I do need to see it again to reevaluate its standing, but it was a good movie. plus yknow, ScarJo.

“Rudeness is merely an expression of fear. People fear they won't get what they want”

— I do love this movie but this one honestly moves so fast that I still can’t keep up with it. I need to do like a deep deep research to fully understand it, but it’s a cult classic in my household. I might still be a little too immature to understand that one but like Asteroid City, it’s still a fun watch.

“Son of a bitch, I'm sick of these dolphins”

— I’m going to be so honest I do not remember this film at all. But I do remember there being a scene where they run through a bunch of trees mainly because the score behind that scene has been my alarm for like the last 4 years. Just the music from this film has honestly a lot of impact on me even though I don’t remember the movie. Seu Jorge + David Bowie?!? His singing Bowie songs in Portuguese was the only was I could go to sleep during a tough time.

Update 6/22/25: I just rewatched this film and I got to say it was fun, but probably not one of my favorites. Loved the claymation fish and most importantly the music. David Bowie makes everything better. I don’t know how I forgot everything in this movie but Cate Blanchett is mother and RIP Owen Wilson’s character. Sadly not my favorite.
