Criterion Challenge 2026 2/52 Through recent research I’ve done about liminal spaces in history this fits right in. The inland islands a place in between places that acts as a place for identity to flourish. We see this in the author/narrators telling of how his views on life changes ones in this space. His voice soothes you and as you see the beautiful shots of the landscape and the people you want to experience it as he does. But by now the modernity he states that was looming in the distance has since been implemented in full force and this film is now a time capsule of a long gone place and time.
