The Batman
First time I watched The Batman was in theatres when it first came out but it wasn’t really a movie I was waiting for even though I am a big Batman fan. After this rewatch I am glad that I watched it in a cinema because it was a different experience as when I exited the cinema I felt different. The difference is the sound effects especially the Batmobile sound. WOW! Melody to the ears.
The cinema experience was one of the best i’ve had but even when I watched it on the TV, it was still great. For me, this is the best batman movie ever because I liked how the director portrayed Batman as a detective ( a genre I’m a fan of) and as a Batman in year 2 which is still a naive one. It’s a different Batman from what we usually see in the Dark Knight trilogy. I loved how they also wrote a good character development from being a hero who uses fear to a hero that gives hope.
Being a hero who used fear, Batman ultimately created the best villain in Batman movies imo, Riddler. It was nice that they did make him more scary and real as they didn’t follow exactly from the comics. The villain felt more intimidating and the motivations were quite justified that you can see what happens if some are misguided, they could think of themselves doing the right thing for the right cause but actually it’s actually the opposite as the right cause doesn’t justify the actions. The morals of the audiences are kinda being tested here cause we might think the Riddler is doing the right thing as his trying to eliminate corruption even though he kills to achieve this. His actions really show that it isn’t really impossible for some to agree with him and join his cause which exactly happened at the end when he manipulated his followers to commit atrocities. This is why for me, Riddler is the best villain and better than Joker because both are psychotic in their own way but Joker is more pure evil which he does it for the love of the game as he plays with people’s morals in a sick way but Riddler is just more realistic and intimidating as you can imagine this villain in our own world. Comparisons aside, both villains are GOATed thanks to two unbelievable actors who portray them, Heath Ledger and Paul Dano.
Character and performance wise, they were all great. At first I doubted Robert Pattinson as the Batman but he really killed the role. My only complaint is that he wasn’t really a good Bruce Wayne so I kinda agree with the Internet that he is a great Batman but Christain Bale was a better Bruce Wayne. The cast was stacked, I liked Colin Farrell as the Penguin, Jeffrey Wright as Gordon and John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, they made their scenes iconic. The writings were well written too as most of the actors delivered them perfectly to create iconic scenes.
The cinematography in the movie was great too. The Riddler creeping angles, the batmobile chase scene, the use of the colour red in the dark (flare scene) etc. These are just some of many great ones. The Nirvana music in the opening was well used too.
Overall for me this was a perfect superhero movie with all the elements right from the writing, casting, cinematography, sound, music and pacing. Not to forget it was also action-packed even though it was almost 3 hours.
Detective action packed super hero movie
