Sicario
Been on a bit of a rewatch kick and I’ve been meaning to get to this for a bit now (will probably rewatch BR 2049 and Arrival soon too), but this viewing just reminded me how good this movie is. It very close to a perfect movie for me and this rewatch bumped it into my Top 20 movies after being in the 25-30 range.
Most notably, Benicio del Toro puts on one of the best performances of the 2010s and the fact that he didn’t get nominated for Best Supporting kinda irks me.
There are several scenes where you just go “holy shit that was awesome”: 1.) the highway scene2.) the night vision scene3.) the raid/dinner scene “Finish your meal”
This rewatch just further solidifies Denis as my favorite director of all time. Between this, Arrival, BR 2049, Prisoners, and Dune, he has made 5 of my top 30 movies; most out of any other director (Nolan: 4, Tarantino: 2).
