ok so watching lost highway before this definitely contextualized a lot of the plot and helped me navigate this film. but regardless of that this feels like a more refined version of lost highway, not in the sense that its dumbed down and spoon fed to you but the ideas are executed a lot more effectively and the dream vs reality analogies are a lot clearer here. not sure if its bias because i was dropped into lynch via lost highway so i had an advantage in understanding this one but i liked this more. will rewatch both in the future

first wong kar wai movie ive watched in theaters and its about how playboy with mommy issues leaves maggie cheung. genuinely the worst possible life decisions one could possibly make

genuinely the biggest clue to getting me closer to finding out what was going on in the movie was the sex scenes😭 cant even appreciate the cinematography the first watch around because im locking in too hard to understand the plot

this film might be about time. not sure though
