He died doing what he loved…not talking.
It’s always kind of scary going into a very famous, well-regarded movie (especially on social media) because of that lingering fear of it not being as good as expected, this film was waaaayyyy better than I ever could have imagined it being, the first 10 minutes by themselves are hall-of-fame worthy.
I might be delusional here but this movie might only be a tad few steps behind a classic like Heat for example. Ryan Gosling giving maybe his coldest role, add perfect supporting performances from literally everyone—especially Cranston and Brooks wow—then you have a movie you can’t get your eyes off from.
But that’s still not enough if you want your movie to be a modern classic, so add a story this captivated and relentless, some S-TIER practical effects in gore, crashes, and gunfire, a banger of a soundtrack and you get this movie.
And like damn Gosling ok, I’m even more impressed. A part of me is a bit sad that he’s into more “fun” roles now, but he gets to do whatever he wants to do after giving us this golden era of cool roles idc.
