Sing Sing

“You did your thing, beloved.” As always, when it’s based on a true story, it’s just a reminder that movies are often not just a reflection of humanity, they ARE humanity entirely. This film attempts to comment on the prison system and its flaws, the significance of art, brotherhood, grief, and love. And it succeeds on all fronts. The art of theatre really shines in this movie and truly cements the idea that art can save lives. It can take people who give up on it and turn them into people who want the world even when the world doesn’t want them.
