Aftersun
"In some kind way, it made you realize that it's your parent's first time being a parent too. And when you realize that, it all eases up by a little bit."
That might be the perfect saying to describe this movie adequately. Aftersun (2022) is just one of those movies that doesn't need much to make you feel much, it certainly leaves a lingering aftertaste in the end.
I initially didn't think that this movie would make me cry, but seeing Calum battling with his own thoughts, the darkness that kept pulling him in, and how Sophie was trying to reach out to him and hold him but he kept slipping out. That part got me. A strong contender and definitely the perfect choice to start out this year.
