Imagine hundred of thousands years in the future after your extinction, the creatures that now populate the world love you so much they created professions to study you, museums are filled with your bones, movies, stories, books, documentaries are made about you, you become a special interest and hyperfixation to many, one of the greatest fantasy is to bring you back to life, little ones love you, old ones love you, there is always new discoveries about you. Dinosaurs are really the closest thing to immortality. This documentary was absolutely stunning and beautifully made. :’)

RELEASE MY GOTHIC CLASSICS FROM SHITTY DIRECTORS AND ADAPTATIONS I AM TIREEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!!!!!!

I really wanted to give this movie another chance because of the hype and the whole crying over it. Maybe I was the problem and too emotionally stunted but nah, this is a big pile of shite. So I re-read the book, cried over it, went to watch the movie again on my birthday and OH BOY I AM EVEN MORE DISAPPOINTED!!! First watch I really over rated it because of the beauty of the movie but now it’s feels like “putting lipstick on a pig” Using insanely beautiful shots to make us forget the cat vomit that is this movie. Aesthetically pleasing but hollow and vapid. Why is Heathcliff white? Where are the moors? Why are they so oooooold? Why is Nelly made evil? Where is the generational trauma? Where is the fucking HAUNTING? WHERE IS THE YEARNING? Why is Charli XCX used for the soundtrack? Why is my poor girl Isabella turned into a masochist who ENJOYS how she’s being treated? Where is Hindley?! WHERE ARE MY BEAUTIFUL HAUNTING MOORS?!!! Why isn’t it mentioned that Heathcliff and Catherine are most likely half-siblings? Why are they having a full blown affair when they are supposed to barely kiss? HOW IS THAT SUPPOSED TO BE A YEARNING MOVIE WHEN THEY KEEP DOING THE NASTY ALL THE TIME?! Why are the sex scenes so boring? AND OF COURSE THERE IS NO SECOND PART BECAUSE GOD FORBID WE SEE HOW VILE AND DISGUSTING HEATHCLIFF IS!!!!! The movie has nothing to do with the beauty of the original story, and even as a standalone movie it would still be shite. There is so much inconsistencies, no romance, no yearning, nothing makes sense. How are we supposed to feel bad for either of the characters? How are we supposed to feel their love or even understand their motives for everything they did to each others and the other characters? What are their excuses? What is the meaning of this movie? Why are you guys crying over this and wishing for a Heathcliff? Are you all mad? It’s soooooo badly adapted that now everyone BELIEVES Catherine and Heathcliff could have been happy by simply communicating and that NELLY COCKBLOCKED THEM?! NELLY IS NOT THE BAD GUY!!!! CATHERINE AND HEATHCLIFF ARE EVIL AND THATS THE WHOLE FREAKING POINT OF THE STORYYYYYYYYY! They both deserve and did not deserve what happened to them! (Ahem Cathy is annoying af tho she might be deserving a little) And my poor girl Isabella was a survivor of DV and SA, running away from Heathcliff WHILE pregnant, at a time when it was IMPOSSIBLE for women to do so. Yall were ready to burn Sabrina Carpenter on the town square for being on all fours and “promoting” DV yet think what Fennel did to Isabella character is quirky and acceptable? DEATH to Heathcliff, DEATH to Catherine! JUSTICE for Isabella, JUSTICE for my girl Nelly! They really managed to turn a classic of Gothic Romance, something that was so ahead at the time it was written and published, into a Dubai chocolate labubu brat summer skibidi tung tung sahur matcha movie somehow. Anyway go watch the 2011, 2009, 1998, 1992, 1978, 1970 and 1939 adaptations. 2011 and 1978 translate the gothic feel perfectly. The 1992 has both parts and ACTUAL quotes from the book and the best characters adaptations. 1970 also has most dialogues! 1939 is basically a “classic” adaptation with the beautiful haunting. Over 30 something adaptations over the years and the 2026 is most likely the worst one. Even the 2003 adaptation is better than that! Fennel really wanted to give us a Taylor Swift-Booktook-Fifty Shades of Grey-First draft ff of what she imagined at fourteen but you know what? Kate Bush was only a teenager when she watched the final minutes of the 1967 adaptation and got inspired to write her song Wuthering Heights, she only read the book AFTER writing it and this song captured the essence of the novel way better than Fennel did with her movie!! Booooooooooooo 🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅🍅
