I genuinely have nothing else to say about this other than it’s disgusting. I KNOW Emily Brontë didn’t publish a book about racism, classism, discrimination, and obsession (a book that was so revolutionary for her time that she had to publish under a pseudonym) just for Emerald Fennel to go and make it into… this.  Also, why the actual FUCK did she turn Isabella (a RAPE and DV VICTIM, who’s abuser was HEATHCLIFF) into a bdsm freak playing into pet play for Heathcliff 😐 “she read the book when she was 14 and this is how she interpreted it!” I fear if you read this at ANY point, especially 14, and interpreted it as THIS, a hyper sexual story, then there’s something fundamentally wrong with you. I’m all for sex positivity in film, but to turn such a meaningful and important story such as Wuthering Heights into a sex-filled film is beyond wrong and disrespectful to Emily Brontë.
