Demolition
I discovered this movie because of an edit i saw and a comment i saw along the lines of something like "you're making demolition look like a happy movie when it isn't at all." Okay, Jake gyllenhaal. I see. It caught my eye.
Anyways, a part of a message I heard that made me have a fizzy feeling inside was is: "Everything has become a metaphor."
I couldn't relate more to what he was saying. The feeling of grief is an experience with lots of different emotions. Some can impact others through the short term or the long term. But no matter what, our thoughts we think are still unable to escape our souls. Especially when grief is involved.
Davis his grief matter is such a slow-burning contrast. I like how Demolition added the comfort of other characters going through grief as well, but still maintained him as the main character in this film. Chris and Karen. They really interested me the most when they showed up in the film. Chris and Davis's bond was my favorite. Chris brought out his happiness throughout scenes, even though his grief was all over the place. Karen did as well. She understood Davis and would listen to him when he needed her or the other way around.
Therefore, the director did a wonderful job by displaying every character's experiences of what grief was to them.
