The Hate U Give
I read the book a few months ago for English class.
I remember my teacher telling me. "You know there's a movie to this right? Have you seen it before?" I shook my head, "No".
Now, I'm watching the movie. I'll be forever thanking my English teacher for teaching about this to her students. This is real history. All the things being shown is what people do which sucks because some jobs who are supposed to protect the people from other bad people. They always don't.
There is this certain scene a 18 year old boy. Seven. He says word for word "I can't breathe" during the time where there was violence in the background. This reminded me of the same shit George Floyd said when police officers gunned him down back in 2020. So, it really is what they say "It’s the same story, just a different name."
Ps: God, I'm so grateful. Chris wasn't an asshole white dude. Starr got lucky.
