terrific coming-of-age film. a portrait of a sensitive, asian-american kid dealing with the challenges of adolescence, feeling alone within your family and cultural identity… and saying awful things to your mom that you don’t really mean. it perfectly captured the early days of social media on the interwebz, and the way all IM conversations started with a “hey whats up” and “nm u?”
