Perfect Blue

compelling and anxiety-inducing from start to finish. perfect blue explores the loss of identity, the dark side of digital fame, and the blurring lines of reality. this was clearly ahead of its time in the 90s, but feels eerily current today— and that’s saying a lot about how we obsessively consume the never-ending dread that the internet can bring into our lives, whether knowingly or not. I think I would benefit from re-watching this a couple of times because I left the cinema going "wait, what?"
