Yi Yi
"since I met you again, a lot of things have happened. but I've found that they weren't really that many things."
yi yi manages to capture the entire spectrum of human existence within the walls of a taipei apartment complex. perfect, timeless film. we're all just trying to make sense of the chaos of life—its beginnings and endings, its highs and lows, its missed connections—and find beauty and meaning in the people and things around us. we learn, we grow, and we pass it along.
as yang-yang points out, we can only see half of the truth on our own. but in understanding ourselves and other people, and by accepting the uncertainty of life and actually living it, we start to see the other half. it’s a (needed) reminder that while life is often complicated, there is an inherent, quiet beauty in simply being present for all of it.
