A great sci-fi mystery directed by the twisted yet endlessly impressive mind of Alex Garland, whose technical and story writing and building ability are on full display in this entire series. The mind-bending story of a murder mystery combined with a sci-fi mystery/thriller about world-changing technology is such an intriguing and hooking concept and after seeing that I knew this series was something special. When talking about the acting in this, I think it’s easy to say Sonoya Mizuno was the standout here, and although she was great too, I’d say Alison Pill’s performance as Katie was the best, the total lack of emotion on her face at points was haunting. Nick Offerman as Forest was another fantastic casting, he nailed this role and it’s my favorite of his outside of the iconic Ron Swanson. If it hadn’t been for this and The Last of Us, I’d have never known Nick Offerman was so talented at emotional performances, and I honestly can’t thank those casting directors enough for letting him shine in these roles. Can’t mention the acting in this either without mentioning Stephen McKinley Henderson and Cailee Spaeny, their supporting roles were both very good too. Highly recommended not just for fans of Alex Garland’s work but for anyone who loves an impressively written mystery thriller plot.
