Funny Games
I believe this is my favourite thriller movie so far as I see nothing that the director nor crew could’ve done better, I found everything went together to make the audience feel and think what the characters are thinking this is aided by the use of fourth wall breaks by one of the main antagonists. Then also there is so much we can see through the way these guys systematically destroy these families by getting in by a simple request then immediately destroying communication to the outside world and scouting the house to learn its layout.
There was a scene in particular which stood out to me when the boy escapes to his neighbours house and he’s hiding which I think is almost impeccable.
This movie is also extremely special for not relying on graphic stuff on screen but showing its impact on the characters instead, this is very tasteful and shows it’s not just torture porn.
Then there’s a whole other thing with the two antagonists not giving reliable information to the victims in case they do survive.
On top of that one of them can’t seperate fiction from reality which is revealed at the end, but from it we get an interesting scene where he rewinds time to prevent his partner from being shot.
This review is a bit of a jumble of glaze and I’m sorry for that I just enjoyed this movie enough to care to write about it.
