I have logged over 500 movies, and I can safely assume that, from what I’ve seen, no one was doing it like Stanley Kubrick.

I think the Mr dennis character was, at least in part, inspired by Elia Kazan. Apparently, shortly before Loden’s death, the two were in the process of separating. It only makes sense to have slight feelings of worthlessness being overlooked and overshadowed by your husband. How ironic that, as time passed, Kazan’s actions gradually lost him so much respect, while Wanda was slowly discovered and soon heralded as one of the all time greats. It’s a shame Loden wasn’t around to see this happen.
