Angel Dust
Angel Dust is another great film from Ishii. Very much feels like a nightmare, lost in Japan's urban landscape, grappling with identity and individuality in a world where people are jammed in trains. The soundtrack is quality, as is the cinematography, seemingly every shot peering through the glare of vehicles and buildings. It's cold and unnerving throughout the runtime, never allowing the viewer anywhere to get comfortable, which ultimately works to it's advantage as the plot slowly unravels. Definitely a lot to analyse her in regards to masculine control and authority here, brainwashing playing a tennis match, losing the person in the net. Really really enjoyable.
