Bullet Ballet
Another Tsukamoto masterpiece. Aggressive and harsh depiction of loss, aimlessness and fear conjoined with transient moments of bliss and beauty create a truly affecting experience. Wide shots of the city accompany long spells of concealed and close up action, showing the dissent and alienation of urban life. Technology squeezes its way through representation of weaponry and communication. As always Chu Ishikawa's score is phenomenal. Somehow not my favourite Tsukamoto, but one of my favourite films I've seen overall.
