Himiko
A mythological bridge between the works of Ishii and Terayama, while a distinct and majestic piece in itself, Himiko explores modernity through history and vice versa, the vices of leadership and the awe of what came before and what will come placed on a cryptic pedestal. Stunning minimalist set design remains divided from the majesty of nature, separation a manifestation of political turmoil and ideological constraints. Just overall beautiful. An entrancing piece of filmic art.
