The Devils
Still an astounding, heretical, blasphemous piece of cinema, draped in elaborate sets and violence. There is a distinctly evil quality to The Devils, however, it retains an unblackened heart beneath all the excess, one of intellect and beauty. To progress is to die as it is to love and be human. The convergence of religion and state is a selling of dreams and a creation of dishonesty. To seek information is instinct, but so is the want of something more, something evident, something real. Stunning.
