extra half star solely for the use of its no good by depeche mode (although I don’t think it fit the scene or movie that well but wtv)

> ***“I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE”*** > **“I drink your water, Eli. I drink it up. Everyday. I drink the blood of Lamb.” ** Paul Thomas Anderson, you’ve outdone yourself once again. The film really well embodies the absurdity and seriousness of capitalism vs religion in this country, and all of the imperfections and injustices both sides commit to and represent. It explores themes of greed, injustice, and drive for power and control through showing the parallels between a businessman and a preacher, along with all their mistakes, failures, and the disgustingness of their actions. They are both sides of the same coin, fighting for control and power. > **“I have competition in me. I want no one else to succeed. I hate most people… there are times when I-I look at people and I see nothing worth liking. I want to earn enough money to get away from everyone.”** It shows how feeling of greed and desire for control can drive a person into complete obsession and tunnel vision that focuses only on power until they are left in an end-state of being rich in money and control but completely stripped of their morals, goodness, and humanity. > **“You’re just a bastard from a basket. You’re not my son. You’re just a little piece of competition. BASTARD FROM A BASKET!”** INSANE performances from everyone, especially Daniel Day-Lewis and Paul Dano (who never fail to disappoint with their acting). Jonny Greenwood’s score sounded weird at times but fit the film SO well, and as a die hard Radiohead fan I liked it and the cinematography was top-tier too. > **“Because you’re not the chosen brother, Eli.(…) You’re just a *fool.”*** I love political/politically critical movies, so this was a very good watch for me. > **“We gain nothing by losing our heads!”**
