Utterly terrifying.  Not only Georges and his family but also we have to experience the incidents of this movie. In the same way that Georges experiences the incidents he’s seeing on tv.  The movie offers an interesting balance of atmosphere and symbiotic. The crushing and suffocating mood of waiting for something bad to happen and the symbol of the tv or rather the moving image. On the one hand the moving image as seen on cassettes and movies and on the other hand as is experienced in memories.  Reality gets mixed up between present and past, real and lie. In some moments, we don’t know which recordings are the movies recordings or the blackmailers. Georges sees the suicide of Majid but processes it, as if it’s a movie. As stupid and pretentious as it sounds, it really is a meta-film. A movie about moving images.
