The way all of the characters interact with each other is so charming

Edward Van Sloan playing another doctor that knows a lot about a particular monster, and warns everyone of the danger, just to have no one listen till the last minute. Thats exactly what I want to see. The Mummy is very similar to Dracula, but has enough differences, to be seen as a different movie. I really like the dark atmosphere, and the creepy scenes where the camera lingers a bit too long. The scene where the mummy walks away and that guy is hysterically laughing is super unsettling, which was really cool. Also Boris Karloff was pretty much born to play creepy characters, especially with that bone structure. Universal knew they struck gold with him. The most unrealistic thing in this entire movie is the British guy saying "The British Museum works for science, not for loot.” When has that ever been true??💀 I will say the film didn’t age well, in terms of portraying Egyptians. There was definitely a lot of racist and backwards views being used while creating the movie. Such as the white scientist all being the hero’s, and all of the local Egyptians being disposable characters, who are viewed as non sensical at moments. The way Egypt portrayed as some "exotic” place for Westerners to explore just goes back to old orientalist stereotypes. Not to mention all the actors are Europeans or Americans. (some are in literal brown face paint) I’m not saying any of this is surprising for that decade, but it’s still very sad. Overall, I really enjoyed it! I’m gonna watch the Brendan Fraser one next

This a creepy old house, macabre film so what’s not to like? I think it did a good job at keeping me anxious while watching, everything was very suspenseful which I enjoyed. The overall plot is very interesting, and while I do think there were some aspects of it that fell flat, and almost felt underwhelming, I think majority of the film executes what it wanted to do. Honestly, the first 25 minutes I felt like I was watching 'Clue' so I was hooked from the beginning. I’m pretty sure 'Clue' took heavy inspiration from this film. Maybe they’re just similar genres, but there’s no denying the similarities. Another piece of media it reminded me of was the "Baby’s first vacation” episode from Good Luck Charlie. I know that episode takes inspiration from several different movies with the "fake haunted house” trope, but this one definitely seems like it influenced it. Though one critique I have is towards the characters themselves. To me they felt poorly written. The Loren’s had some interesting moments, but the other characters felt like they had no depth to them, especially Nora. It’s like she was being propped up to be more of an interesting character, but never got there? Idk maybe I’m just being a bit picky, but those were my thoughts Overall I really enjoyed this movie!

Man I wish I was in the monster squad This movie is just pure 80s nonsense that’s absolutely ridiculous and manages to pull it off. Dracula calling a 5 year old girl a bitch, and blowing up a tree house with dynamite is peak cinema and you can’t tell me other wise. "Wolfman does have nards” is another great line. I also loved the scene with Phoebe and Frankenstein’s monster that references the scene with him and Maria in the 1931 movie. Overall it’s a very over the top monster movie with classic 80s humor, also the soundtrack is really good, I especially love the Monster Squad song that’s played in the credits.
