Ritual
Loneliness.
A theme and topic depicted in many films but has ever been this bittersweet? Ritual is a true work of art that left me being a statue after it was over. She loathes the disgusting, revolting feeling of being in solitude and marks everyday as her birthday, wishing not to be alone everyday.
Felt this film on a personal level and have hoped to watch this in an understandable perspective. Of course some things left me to questioning, but the discomfort and dread she feels in her day to day life and how she reacts, breathes and lives throughout is WOW, completely executed with the intention of capturing the viewer's relatability. Such a tearjerker, emotional plot of a lost soul longing for a companion and a state of easiness and self-love. What an original, risky film as a whole that exceeds in cinematic excellence. Why? The fucking VISUALS. Such unique set designs especially the ritual basement with the floods and hanging umbrellas, the beautiful use of rain and the outdoor spaces only filled with the director and the girl. INCREDIBLE.
Ritual will give you a rude awakening of your own mundane life but will alert you by giving you a tight hug, mixed of intense love and murderous intent.
