Squid Game
(season 3)
Media illiteracy is wild sometimes. The way i'm seeing people calling the ending "bad" just because it didn't go the way they expected or because they didn't like it is insane and they are completely missing the point.
I definitely agree with the director when he said :
*"People like a happy ending, I'm like that too. But some stories, by nature, can't have one. If you try to force one, the essence is compromised."
*
Squid game is just one of those stories that can't have a happy ending in my opinion and i liked the ending very much i think it was powerful and i'll say why i think so.
I think that gi-hun’s decision was powerful because he stuck to his values, even when it cost him something huge. His own life! That’s what made the ending so strong and meaningful. He didn’t let the system change who he is even after everything he went through. The fact that he refused to play by their rules is incredible.
People expecting him to just “kill the baby” completely missed the point. That would’ve made him no better than the people running the game.
He may not have saved everyone but at least he saved one. One innocent life, especially a baby who had nothing to do with the games and was just unlucky to be born in such place.
“We are not horses, we are humans… humans are…”
I love how he didn't complete the sentence because that leaves us space for interpretation. It reflects how complex, messy, and unpredictable humanity really is.
I need people to start watching things with a bit more depth because It’s really frustrating how quick they are to label things as “bad writing” when it’s actually just morally complex or doesn’t align with their expectations.
