Vertigo
Alfred Hichcock’s magnum opus, his most introspective film. A film that explores obsession, identity and the male gaze. The question becomes “why do we chase illusions when it can destroy us”?
What a performance from James Stewart btw who goes from this charming intelligent man to a haunted and obsessed man. His desire for otherworldly beauty and perfection blinded him from seeing what was right in front of him all along and that being the victim of a sinister plot involving a psychological torture. Beautiful film
