Metropolis

Genuinely one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen. German Expressionism and 80’s rock is a match made in cinematic heaven. I have yet to see the full restored version, but I definitely will at some point. I really don’t see how it can top this masterful cut though. The professors I work with decided to show this version instead of the restored cut to give the students an easier to digest version of the film. I thought that was blasphemy at first, but after seeing this, I am very glad they chose to do so. It may not be the definitive version of this movie, but wow, it was definitely one of my favorite movie watching experiences. I hope to see this specific cut in a theater someday.
