Superman
“Maybe that’s the real punk rock”
Jams Gunn’s DCU has got off to an impeccable start, the man is cooking. This film has everything I want in a film - a rich story, poignant moments, great characters, a 4 legged friend and an incredible villain. Lex Luthor was perfect - condescending, superior and vindictive, pointing at Ultraman to flip the switch, the rage bait monkeys and deliberately knocking stuff in the floor for his sycophants to scramble to pick up were chefs kiss. Everything about the film felt like it was straight out of a comic. And conversely, David Corenswet played a down to earth, kind superman, exemplified at no greater point than when he saves a squirrel from a falling building as an aside. Chemistry between David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan blows what little chemistry Henry Cavill and Amy Adams had out the water and the supporting cast including the Justice Gang and the cadre of reporters were great. Especially looking forward to seeing Guy Gardner again in Lanterns. Justice Gang saving Jarhanpur was also great, as well as the little kid holding aloft the superman flag. And the late cameo of Supergirl was cool, can already tell Milly Alcock is going to crush it. Excellent film, best DC film there has been in years and it’s not close. The last scene before the credits 🥲🥲🥲
