Hamnet
WOW. i have so much to say so please excuse the ramble, if you know me you know i absolutely adore this book
growing up in stratford i tend to dislike shakespeare, not because there's anything wrong with his work but just because he's been shoved down my throat my entire life, so to see something that is centred around his family rather than him is always a joy to me (hamnet my baby i love you so much). will admit it is slightly disappointing that none of the movie was actually filmed in stratford as it would've been nice to see my hometown on the big screen but i do appreciate that it is hard to set a period piece in a town that is ultimately just greggs and maccies.
everyone in this was phenomenal, particularly the little boy playing hamnet, and paul mescal even made me enjoy a shakespeare play!!
this movie feels so raw and real, and even though i've read the book over and over and my mum wasn't overly interested (forced her to go with me) we both left crying like babies. you will not leave this movie not crying :,)
this was such a gorgeous adaptation of my favourite ever book, i loved every second of it 🫶
