Bleed for This
bruhh this film was absolutely fucking fire. genuinely such a deeply heartfelt and gritty boxing biopic. there’s like a reckless energy throughout the film, carried both through miles teller and the way music is used and how silence is also used to cut tension in some of the scenes. especially, i feel like the cuts are so crucial to capturing the physical brutality of vinny’s recovery, and how impatient he is to get back in the ring.
miles teller is so incredible in this, i really don’t think it was even about mirroring vinny himself which admittedly i thought was the whole point of a biopic to get the accuracy yk. there’s way he portrays the mental torment of the accident and the frustration of it is so good. he’s so vulnerable as a fighter and as a son, and paired up with aaron deckhart they bounce off of each other so well.
defo gonna give this an annual rewatch from now on, and now i’m just gonna go through biopics of other boxers in the movie. duran, you’re up next!!
