“We used to look up at the sky and wonder at our place in the stars. Now we just look down, and worry about our place in the dirt.“ Film Student

4/10 I was excited for this considering it’s a piece by Polanski but I was really disappointed by it. He does a great job at maintaining a story in one location with the same characters, and the pacing is great, flys by. The acting performances are pretty solid, with some hilarious moments, but I just find it really boring. Christoph Waltz was the only reason I watched this, and he didn’t disappoint.

3.5/10 Only noticed halfway through that it is directed by Paul Feig and I knew what monstrosity I was stepping into, it is just a completely poor attempt at an interesting narrative. It could’ve worked with the right directional take, and definitely with the right cast, because Sydney Sweeney cannot act to save her life, neither could anyone else on screen. I don’t know what the books like but I would take a guess that this is dreadfully nowhere near it.

9/10 Now this is cinema, and also a huge example that films are still alive nowadays, still making a huge impact on the industry. I mean it’s without doubt that Chalamet puts in an incredible performance, wouldn’t say it’s one of the greatest but it’s a hugely impressive performance from him. The narrative is so well executed supported by great pacing. This is one of the films that proves my dedication to getting into the industry, an original story, with outstanding cinematography, this is cinema right here. Will have to say it was a bit all over the place at times, but that’s what you expect with a Safdie film. Highly entertaining piece right here.

3/10 What a dreadful follow up after the first, which was a very solid film. The entire film just felt like Samara Weaving was just trying to see how loud she can scream, as well as the new introduction of Kathryn Newton who doesn’t add much and joins the screaming chorus that they forged together. The only good performance I would say is Elijah Wood, who is pretty solid everytime he’s on screen. It keeps the funny, gory-mess that it should but other than that it’s a complete waste of time.
