Hawkeye
Hawkeye (2021)
Showran by Jonathan Igla
Starring Jeremy Renner, Hailee Steinfeld, Florence Pugh, Vera Farmiga, Tony Dalton, and Alaqua Cox.
Story: Hawkeye follows Clint Barton who after seeing Kate Bishop in his Ronin suit, goes to investigate and runs in to some enemies from the past.
The Bad: At points this show felt like a Disney Channel show with a high budget with tension being replaced with forced humor and very simple cinematography and bland color grading (although that could be said about almost every MCU project). Because this felt like a Disney Channel show, I wasn't really hooked by the story, it wasn't bad or anything I just didn't find it intresting. The action seems to be choreographed well but it is shot very awkwardly to where you have an idea if what's going on but then it'll cut and then you're lost. Spoilers for No Way Home but you can't reintroduce Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock and then kill Vincent D'Onofrio as Kingpin right after, he may be alive but it still seems odd to kill him as soon as he is fully introduced
The Good: There are a lot of good performances here with Jeremy Renner, Hailee Steinfeld, Vera Farmiga, Tony Dalton, Alaqua Cox, Fra Free, and of course Vincent D'Onofrio. It's been since Age of Ultron that Hawkeye was a main character, so it's cool to see him have a bigger role after half of a decade of him just kinda being there. I also like how the actions that he made as The Ronin has severe consequences that puts himself and others in danger. I also like how this ties into Black Widow with Yelena returning to kill Hawkeye and I thought that the dynamic between her and Kate Bishop was intresting. Speaking of Kate Bishop, I thought that she was great and I'm looking forward to seeing her interact with other MCU characters.
