Again with the useless boyfriend ON EST FATIGUÉS sinon good watch, i apparently know too many people in the fashion industry because i just kept pointing out all the cameos to my friends (Law Roach should have had a line I DONT CARE- cause why did Donatella Versace have one? elle avait même toute une scène, WHYY???) The story isn't really brilliant and quite honestly the whole plotline and pacing is awful, it felt wrong. Best way i can put it is that it seems they were initially writing a show, but scrambled it up to become a movie instead. No idea if that's what actually happened though. The themes which this movie specifically approaches were not digged in at all, just a simple "Oh no, times are changing, and everyone is losing their jobs! Might be because of AI, but who knows because we've only mentioned it once or twice!" Bref it pissed me off kinda, but i wasn't really expecting anything on that regard when it comes to a movie such as this, so consider me not disappointed, i guess. I do adore the fashion aspect AND the real life parallels. When that Vogue cover featuring Meryl Streep and Anna Wintour dropped, i was SO confused, because wasn't the whole first movie adapted from a book written by one of Anna's old assistants, to criticize Vogue and her specifically? Calling her a litteral devil? But then after watching this sequel, I understand why she agreed to it. Why Vogue used it as a cover. It humanised Miranda's character. Showcased the difficulties Runway is going through with digitalisation, the loss of art. Therefore, it put Anna Wintour and her Vogue empire on a pedestal. But I'm guessing it's not really a direct parallel either because I'm guessing Miranda is still editor-in-chief (?), while Anna actually got that Global Chief Content Officer post. Anyway enough about Vogue lore, i really just enjoyed the fashion mwah 10/10 but everything else was meh. I still loved watching it, and definitely would watch it again. The nostalgia effect is the reason it's 2.5 instead of 2 stars.
