Felt very film 4 - and I don’t mean that as an insult. The jokes were funny, it was a pleasant British comedy. Don’t go in expecting anything different to the tried and tested formula and it makes for a great 90 mins. Also love that the camra judges were just two people. What this film doesn’t do well is romance! No disrespect to the actors but the dialogue between the main pairing was horrible and the scenes felt awkward.

For me this film did not stick the landing. It was tight in its characterisations and dialogue and the acting was stellar. Oddly funny in a lot of places and tense in many. But there was never a crescendo reached. There is a question of morality in here - is anyone truly reformed through such extreme measures or are they just doomed to repeat the same abuse? Is the abuse inflicted on Tommy any different just because he’s a bad person? I’m not sure the film has the answers. It is however an entertaining couple of hours and I will recommend it to people just on the weird premise and the quality of the acting alone.

I love and support Irish actors making it but for the love of god can we please stop asking Barry Keoghan to stop doing English accents 😭 It was good, familiar to see Murphy back as Tommy Shelby. Something I enjoyed but it wasn’t good enough to hold its own. There was so much of it that felt like a parody of itself, the build up to showing Keoghans face and then ‘by order of the peaky blinders’, even some of the scenes in the pub or with Tommy in Birmingham. There needed to be more depth, more emotion in this film in order to capture people beyond ‘oh it’s nice to have them back’
