Interstellar
I think movie and art reviews as a whole should be a perfect mixture of subjectivity and objectivity. Interstellar is for me one of those movies in which subjectivity prevails. I’ve always known it’s a flawed movie but never have i doubted it being my favourite one. It’s the only movie which i remember the seating arrangement in which me and my family or me and my girlfriend watched it the various times we did.
For me interstellar is a family heirloom, it’s a passion my father passed down to me (both movies and space). I will forever remember and cherish the time my father came into my room and made me watch it the moment he had received the blu-ray for it. Movies are made to move you, i know Interstellar doesn’t move me merely because of its writing, acting or directing; Interstellar moves me every time because I feel in my bones how much it moved me the first time.
Do movies get better than this? yes, absolutely. But movies are experiences and if you want to really feel something you sometimes have to let yourself be submerged by those experiences and ignore film knowledge. Art is emotion and for me Interstellar is exactly that.
