Saving Private Ryan
I found that the characters were deeply relatable and human despite the inhuman circumstances of war.
The film doesn't shy away from the terribleness that is war. But at the same time, it demonstrates the valour of the soldiers who gave their life for it. In war it feels that the morality of the day is decided by leaders and luck, and in this it appears that right and wrong are so twisted and perverted they ought to have lost their meaning. Yet somehow it holds on. And this movie shows that well. Even in these terrible moments there are still choices to be made.
