The King
I honestly really liked The King. I’m not completely sure how much of it is actually based on real events, but it doesn’t even matter because the story feels so real and intense. The whole atmosphere—dark, quiet, heavy—pulls you right in. For me, it’s a solid 5/5.
Timothée Chalamet completely carried this movie. He wasn’t just acting; he was King Henry. You can literally feel the pressure and weight of the crown on him the whole time. He doesn’t need to shout or do anything dramatic—his presence alone is powerful. Every look, every small expression says more than a whole speech could.
And his aura? Unreal. Pure aura farming. He somehow manages to look calm, mysterious, royal, and broken at the same time. That’s rare. He switches so naturally from being this careless prince to a serious, colder king, and you can see that change in his eyes.
The pacing of the movie is slow but in a good way—it lets everything sink in. The battle scenes are dirty and realistic, not flashy or glorified. And the cinematography? Gorgeous. Every shot looks like it could be a painting.
Robert Pattinson’s part is small but funny and memorable, though honestly, this whole film belongs to Timothée. Everyone else just orbits around his performance.
Overall, The King is heavy, emotional, and beautifully done. Even if you’re not into historical films, Timothée’s performance makes it totally worth it.
And plus I loved Lily Rose Depp’s appearance too! Love her.
